[FavorList]

It was named 'RandomList' in the previous versions. It contains a set of your favorite files, such as screensaver, flash, and photos. The purpose of FavorList is that you can use them in different plan.

[Plan]

You can create two plans. Screensaver Plan and Wallpaper Plan. They contain at least one FavorList and other settings. And they can be ran on a specified time.

If you set the plan running in 'All the time', then this plan is your default plan. For example, assume you have two plans A and B, A will run 'All the time', B will run on Friday. Then on Friday, B will be loaded; on other days, A will be loaded.

You can also setup a plan running between a particular period, for instance, from 2005-09-30 8:00AM to 2005-10-10 5:00PM.

[FavorList run type]

You can see this word in screensaver plan configuration. Screensaver runner will load only one of your favorlist.

For example, in your screensaver plan, you have three photo favorlist A,B,and C. Assume you set the RandomType be 'sequentially'. Then at the first time the runner executes, it loads A; at the second time, it loads B; and so on.

[Music FavorList]

You can create different list contain different favorite music files. And then include them in different screensaver plan. They are not affected by 'FavorList run type', and all of they will be played in screensaver.

FAQ

1. What does RandomScreen do?
   Randomly run your all other screensavers, randomly show flashs in screensver, randomly show picture with transition in screensaver. And manage your wallpaper change.
   
   
   
2. What does favorlist mean?
   favorlist is a file package, including files or directories that are used in screensaver and wallpaper.
   There are four types of favorlist: Screensaver, Flash, Picture, and Music.
   
   
3. How can I add items to favorlist?
   There are three methods to add items to favorlist.
   

   From Search: Using search window to find files, and you check the ones you are interested.

   From Files: Select files manually

   From Directory: Add a directory. RSD will contain all files within it, including sub-folders.

4. What is plan?
   Your screensaver must has plan to run. Each plan contains some favorlist and different settings to meet your need.
   You can have several plans, RSD will find the corresponding one to execute.
   
   
5. How is plan loaded?
   As you learn from plan Edition, you can choose your plan by choosing built-in running time or customized time. And since you are allowed to have several plans, each time RSD screensaver is executed, it will find a plan that is corresponding to the execute time.
   
   After version 5.1, you can set a plan running in a particular time period of a specified day or even a specified date period.
   
   The plan searching logic is:
   
   1) If a plan has been specified a time period, it will be chosen as the following order:
       [All the time] - [A corresponding weekday] - [Customized date period]
   
   2) If a has not been specified a time period, it will be chosen as the following order:
       [Customized date period] - [A corresponding weekday] - [All the time]
   
   For example, you have the following five plans, they are:
   plan 1: All the time
   plan 2: Every Thursday
   plan 3: Customized, from 2006-01-10 to 2006-01-15
   plan 4: Customized, from 2006-01-10 to 2006-01-15; Time Period, from 05:00 PM to 09:00 PM
   plan 5: All the time, with Tiem Period, from 07:00 PM to 09:00 PM
   
   2006-01-11 4:00 PM, it runs the plan 3
   2006-01-11 6:00 PM, it runs the plan 4
   2006-01-11 8:00 PM, it runs the plan 5
   2006-01-12 10:00 AM, it runs the plan 2, 'cause that day is Thursday
   2006-01-13 10:00 AM, it runs the plan 1
   
   It's your own responsibility to make sure no plan is never loaded.
   
   
6. Will the right Wallpaper plan be loaded when the time is up?
   It will. But not exactly. RSD will automatically reload a wallpaper plan according to the current time every 30 minutes, so the wallpaper plan change might be a little late sometimes. Basically, if nobody has a plan that specifies only half hour period to run, I suppose it's ok for most people. If anyone has a better idea, please feel free to let me know.
   
   
7. How does randomtype work?
   You may see a concept of randomtype in schedule editor. Here will explain who does randomtype work.
   
   For favorlist run type
   This appears in plan configuration. Since you could have several favorlist in one schedule, this setting specializes how to load favorlist. It only affects on favorlist not the files in favorlist.
   
   For screensaver and flash randomtype
   This appears in screensaver and flash configuration. As you know, RSD can run other screensavers and flash in itself. These two settings affect the files in screensaver favorlist and flash favorlist. If you set they run sequentially, the order will base on how you construct the favorlist. If there is no file in your favorlist but only directory, it will base on ascent file name order.
   
   
8. How to play audio in screensaver?
   You need to construct music favorlist first, and then include them in screensaver plan. The runner will play all files within the music favorlist. RSD supports three types audio file: Mp3, Midi, and Wav.
   
   
9. If I dislike the current wallpaper, can I change another manually?
   Yes, you can. Right click the RandomScreen Agent icon, select [Next Wallpaper]; or you can use next wallpaper hotkey, default is ALT+CTRL+N
